The practice of yoga aligns connects our physical, mental, and spiritual selves through the connection of movement with breath, the strength and release, the re-alignment of our perception of self through the self-discovery that awaits us all when we look within ourselves. Or, rephrasing using the words of the wise Swami Kuvalayananda, ‘yoga has a complete message for humanity. It has a message for the human body. It has a message for the human mind, and it also has a message for the human soul’. Yoga has in our Western Culture taken many forms, popular practices throughout studios stem largely from Hatha (Ashtanga) and Vinyasa branches with elements of varied breathing techniques and mindfulness incorporated throughout. Hatha yoga is typically what we think of in our culture when we hear the word yoga. It is the physical technique of postures performed in various sequences depending on the particular style of the practice (one or more peak postures and their respective preparation and post poses. Poses are often head for multiple cycles of breath. Vinyasa yoga is similar to Hatha in that it is a sequence of poses formed together, practiced in a particular order designed for the intention or purpose of the practice. However, the poses in a Vinyasa practice are performed in a flow that connects breathwork to string together poses. Practices are always customized depending on the needs and wishes of the yogis and are usually a combination of both Hatha and Vinyasa styles. However, the practice of yoga (and what is offered) isn’t limited to how we move our bodies, its how we breathe, how we connect with the world around us and how we perceive ourselves in connection to the world around us. Group classes, semi-private and private practices (with and without infrared options) are available throughout multiple locations in the Greater Vancouver Area. As such, pricing varies depending on location, number of clients and inclusion infrared, contact for pricing specific to your needs.
